Blackened Tuna Salad

• 1 lb tuna steak (1 1/2 inch thick)

• 1 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground multicolored pepper

• 1/2 teaspoon salt

• 1/2 teaspoon cayenne (reduce or omit for less "heat")

• 1 Tablespoon olive oil (for pan frying)

• Your favorite salad mix

The Method

Wasabi Ginger Vinaigrette

Step 1

Combine all ingredients in a mason jar and shake well until completely combined.

Step 2

Tastes best at room temperature. If you have any left over, refrigerate up to 4 days.  When you are ready to use again, let sit for 10 to 15 minutes at room temperature and shake well before using.

Blackened Tuna Salad

Step 1

Combine pepper, salt, cayenne, garlic, onion, thyme, and paprika. Mix well.

Step 2

Coat both sides of the tuna steak thoroughly with the dry seasonings. Pat and press in, do not rub in.

Step 3

Heat pan to medium-high. Add olive oil.

Step 4

Add tuna steak to the hot pan. Cook for 1-2 minutes or until the steak cooks and turns a white color 20% up the side. Flip and repeat the other side to 20%.

Step 5

Remove steak and allow it to rest 5 minutes. Prepare your salad as desired.

Step 6

Place tuna steak on the salad. Drizzle with the Wasabi Ginger Vinaigrette. Enjoy!
